This is a detail from a wooden panel at Nanhai movie studio on the outskirts of Guangzhou. The dragon and the pheonix are common in traditional Chinese architectural decoration. I think that the buildings and the decoration are quite attractive in Nanhai, because it was all built quite recently as a mock up of an Imperial palace. It's maybe a soul-less place because it has no history, but in terms of beauty I like it better than Gu Gong, (The Forbidden City in Beijing).
jrdu, I really like all the clear, ornate detail of this dragon motif...very nice lighting/exposure here. Your crop is just right...it nicely frames the panel with that beautiful red color. Good idea...well taken. What is this a part of? MFC
