*** SURVEY QUESTION ***

Where I live, if you sell a house in which someone has died within the last three years, you are obligated by law to disclose it to prospective buyers.

The survey question is this: if you found a house you wanted to buy and then found out that an elderly person had died there peacefully of natural causes two years earlier, would it affect your decision to purchase the home?

Wouldn't affect my decision at all. I have some good friends who live in a house where a double homicide was committed. I go over all the time, and have even spent the night there several times.

If the person died peacefully of natural causes, it wouldn't bother me. I'd think they died in a wonderful house they really loved. It might bother me if it wasn't of natural causes though.

No, it wouldn't affect my decision to purchase it. Some day I'd like to have a haunted house, but a peaceful death rarely seems to lead iu that direction, anyway. This appears to be a nice little house that would go for about $1,300,000. Am I right?

Life (and death) happens ... we all have to go sometime, somewhere.
There are more disturbing things to have happen in a house - more than a peaceful, natural death. Frankly, I find that law pretty bazaar...! California????

Beautiful home, great landscaping.
I don't think it'd bother me unless lights went on and off on their own, doors opened and closed by themselves, and I saw a strange mist floating through the air. In that case, I'd probably still buy it and then develop my own reality TV show. :-)

Not at all, I would figure the law of averages would be on my side ;-) Also, that someone died in the home is probably minor compared to what else may have gone on there! Point of fact, after I moved into a house in Orange I heard from the neighbors how fairly recently there had been conterfeiters living there, one night a couple of dozen black cars and vans pulled up and hauled everyone away, they then proceded to knock out walls looking for stashed funny money and drugs.
