August 10: Thunderstorms

Colorado Springs, CO

One of the uncontrollable variables that could impact our big 'round the state' PaD tour starting Friday is the weather. Thunderstorms are not unusual this time of the year, especially in the afternoon.

Today is fairly gloomy. But I predict we will have some quite decent days … especially in the mornings.

Now if I can just get Di to do a Sun Dance.

This is great. I posted one similar, I hadn't seen this.

Ummmm.... I certainly hope you weren't driving while taking this....

I suggest you send the weather to me. I would be more than happy to receive that rain.

I love reading about your upcoming adventure, Robin. Whatever the weather, I am sure you all will capture the essence of your adventure. Can't wait to see the pictures!

No question about it Robin, it's wet outside buddy. Be careful out there.

Have no fear the sun will shine somewhere.

Maybe better build an ark just in case!

I have it on good authority (I checked the records in Salem, Mass) that Di is indeed a bona fide witch dancer. I think that's what it said, anyway. So we'll be totally cool with the weather! Seriously, I hope we have some good weather - I would just die after all these months of planning and anticipation. I'll be there tomorrow!!!!

I drove to San Antonio in a (very welcome) thunderstrom today, so this look quite familiar. We'll be watching to see how good Di is.

Great perspective ... all disappears into the mist.

Nice shot, yucky weather!

If it wasn't for the traffic driving on the wrong side of the road, I'd have thought this was a typical English summer picture! (LOL)

I'm sure the sun will appear once the PAD team are assembled! Hope so anyway

the dampness!
Lee Rudd10-Aug-2005 18:52
I'm sure Di will make a smashing Sun Dancer :) Here's hoping for dryness at least

I hope Di is good at the sun dance! It will probabaly clear up for
you, I sure hope so!

Love this shot! Wonderful with just the one set of tail lights giving color to the shot!

We have had 3 weeks of heat an weirdly enough this looks cool and refreshing - LOL
Rather good capture of ichy road conditions. Good luck on your PaD tour!

We got pounded here last night too! The good thing about the thunderstorms is that they never seem to last for very long and they cool things off. I've got my head in the sand regarding the weather forecast (meaning I'm purposely NOT watching) 'cuz I don't want anything to rain on my parade (Robin, you're rubbing off on me!).

Regarding my doing a Sun dance...NOT!

That may look nasty where you are but we have not had rain in almost 2 months.
Even with Lake MIchigan right at our doorstep, we still have lawn watering restrictions.
Best of luck on your tour.

I've been watching the weather forecast. I'm hoping for cool and sunny. May not happen unless Di's a really good dancer.
Robin Reid10-Aug-2005 13:40
@Carlos ... we are going to rough it and stay in motels.
Herb 10-Aug-2005 13:33
It will change, sun dance or not,
Just think about it, in weather like this you don't even need to PS the clouds into the pics.

I know this kind of weather could be "unlucky" for your PaD Tour, but with the terrible heat we have here in Veracruz , this is a very refreshing Image. During the Tour, are you guys camping or staying at hotels?
Try to get Di to do the Sun Dance and try yourself, I will try here, so after the many dances lately, one more is posible and if is for you guys to have great weather during the tour, is for good!!!
