Blue Knot by Peter Thorup

Reworked with some cloning to get a cleaner and more graphical expression. Also flipped it vertically since that appealed more to me.

clear and sharp as you intended. Nice color blue.
Lacking a certain emotional or graphic response. Perhaps a bowline or two half hitches would have appealed to me more. Or even a square knot? Ya' know, something I remember from my boy scout or sailing days.

I agree that the light and shadow works well enough here Peter, but I'm finding there's not quite that spark of excitement that I'm looking for to set this one apart from the average image. Maybe a wider or tighter crop would provide more options, but I'm sure you've thought about that.

Great image. I like the sharpness, and the light/shadow on the rope. I also find that the soft blurred background and diagonal spiders webs add nicely to it. There's a tiny bit of brown/orange in the center of the right edge that could be cropped or cloned out.
