Ink and Oil by Mike Parsons

I did some experiments with blue ink last night (in fact the bulk inkjet inks I use for my Epson printer). I soaked some paper in cooking oil and then dropped small blobs of ink into the mix with a syringe. The ink soaked into the paper in an interesting way, and each blob of ink also became a curved reflector.

This is a really awesome idea. I really like the blue colors. The reflections of the camera are interesting as well! Good job for capturing such a cool picture. http://aplustonercartridges.net

very cool idea, and I love the way that the flash is reflected in the drops and droplets.
An ameoba ate my camera!

Very creative Mike. I like exploring the detail in this one from the shapes of the blobs to the bubbles and the various reflections off the blobs and bubbles within blobs. Good take on the theme.

Not a ring flash but 2 standard flashes: I used a flash on the A2 (a Sunpak) and then a slave flash underneath the paper. The rings are actually smaller droplets of oil or ink in the main blob. If you look carefully you can see the on-camera flash reflected in them...

Is that a ring flash? Or perhaps it is backlit
Has a very scientific, exacting, quality to it.
