June 22, 2005

Me, John and Jayne enjoying a picnic lunch at Fountains Abbey. Thank you Jayne for preparing the lunch and snacks, etc. It took several attempts to get this shot. Good enough, yes?

The ruins were extensive and I enjoyed walking around them imagining what it was like 600 years ago. John went off his own way and I'll be looking to see his take on the abbey, though I think he was more interested in some birds feeding their young. He had his Sigma 100-300 out. Maybe that was because I had his 12-24 lens. :) Thanks John, that lens came in handy.

After a few peaceful hours here, we returned to the farm and I tried milking a cow. See John's photo HERE. I also got to meet Rusty. Photos to come...

Edited Feb. 12, 2007: At last, most of the decent ones are up HERE.

John and Jayne, I did talk to Mark about getting up before noon and helping with the milking. However I doubt he did either. Thanks for having him stay, I'm enjoying the pictures.

Yup he got bacon though not this morning cos he was a lazy ass and never got up in time!! I did offer though :))

This came out better than expected Mark! Remember the going on getting it - what happened to the shot it took of the grass as it fell off the bag just prior to the shutter firing LMAO! It was a nice day out and nice to get off the farm and just forget it! No cow smells though some was spreading silage effluent close by {poooo}

As I've said before it was a pleasure having Mark to stay ... Marks mom - he did behave himself :)) For someone not used to animals did very well. Still have a vision of him arriving on the farm in white trousers (pants) only for me to open our house door and Badger to shoot across what was very wet ground and jump up at Mark leaving his trade mark doggy paw marks up his legs! Badger quite grew to like him though I think it was the one thing they have in common ... chinny whiskers!!!!
