Nice shot, Ord. Great, bright color and interesting texture contrasts.

I replaced the image with a tighter crop, I think it shows off the orange color a little better.

That's one juicy shot!

Thanks for the helpful comments John. I agree with you on the white, it does stand out more than I had expected. I will try some different ways of cutting an orange to see if I can avoid some of that. This particular shot is the full frame resized, so I can't open it up any more, but maybe I can do something with a tighter cropping.

G'day Ord. Another macro. I like my oranges and I'm feeling hungry again looking at your entry. Good colurs, although I feel like the impact of the orange is lessened a bit by the predominance of white as well, not to mention the less obtrusive black. I would have removed the seed left of centre. The cropping is ok and I like having the other orange behind. However, I would have tried (as you may have) experimenting with some composition variations. Rather than cutting the bottom off the orange, what about leaving it intact, or alternatively cropping the bottom more severely or opening up the top (and perhaps left a bit more?) and cropping from the right to put the centre of the orange at the lower right ROT focus point (and the top white skin of the orange closer to the upper ROT line and the left white skin closer to the left ROT line)? If that would put the intact orange in a less favourable position, then you could easily move it to a more favourable position. All that said, I like seeing the right side of the half orange as it is now, plus moving things around as per my suggestions may not improve things at all. Cheers, John
