Thanks John. I didn't know that about the red & jpeg compression. I have replaced it with a slightly larger one, and less compression. There's still some noise & other oddness, but I think it looks a little better.

Why do I feel there are going to be plenty of macro shots in this Challenge?
Simple and effective Ord, with good use of the red plastic and emitted light with classic diaginal composition in an uncluttered scene. The curves of the tops and bases of the LEDs work well to complement the straight lines. The DOF adds some interest as well.
Red is the toughest colour for JPEG to display without noticeableartifacts. Your image pixel size and file size are small enough that you could easily get away with compressing a lot less to produce a cleaner image without coming close to compromising your 200kB file size limit. That's what I'd do anyway. Cheers, John
