We stopped at Squaw Valley, site of the 1964 Winter Olympics. I watched the line of skiiers and snowboarders heading for the magnificent mountain which had several inches of new snow from the night before. It galled me somewhat to remember that, back when I was able to ski (my knees were young), I couldn't afford anything much more than the Sierra Club rope tow (free to members staying at the lodge). Now that I am old and can afford to ride any chair or gondola I wish, I can no longer ski. (Sigh...)
