butterfly detail *

France

f/1.8 iso 100 1/200secs + on board flash

This butterfly settled on a window inside the house.
I think the reflectins add something to the image.
Again, completely wrong set up so a lot of detail is lost.
I willinvite her back later for a reshoot when i can borrow a macro lens.

Grant I'm flattered to think i have a usual standard. I'll embed this link so that you understand that this shot is, imo, equipment limited.

I couldn't get the thing any bigger in the frame. In a few days i'll have a macro to play with. I'll see how we go then. As for the banding, i can only think that you mean the reflections, which i actually like.

Meh. Seems kinda soft. Background looks like it has banding though I doubt it is an artifact. Not to your usual standard.

Andy, I really love the reflection in the glass!! Not only do you have the repeating pattern on the wings, but then the shape itself repeats. Adds a subtle complexity. Nice. -- Jeannie Burleson (jburly)

Strong composition Andy! Cindy

Pedro, They are the reflections of the wings in the glass. One for each surface i think.

Very good shot, Andy, it's great to see the hairs of the insect... question, what are these halos around the wings?

Ah, I gotcha. I actually like it just fine like this-- it's just that I tend to see how things can be even "more," you know? Thanks for the clarification. --Nancy

Thanks Nancy, its not so much OF as a very tight crop.

I like the composition on this. I also like the backlighting on the wings and like the background with its flowing lines and coloring. The butterfly (or moth?) doesn't seem in focus so if you have an opportunity to reshoot, I think you'll be a lot happier with it. --Nancy/odigi
