13th - Farewell Sam Houston

Huntsville, TX.

This is the most photographed statue in Texas, Sam Houston.
He makes his home off of I.H. 45 North in Huntsville, TX.
Since I moved back to Dallas the day after I took this,
I wanted to say goodbye to an old friend.

Canon EOS 10D , Canon 24-70mm F/2.8L
1.5" @ F/11 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

I like how you shot his back...it's like he's telling you to just go. "Go Shawn, just go. You have no reason to be in this town any longer...just go (he's choking back tears)." Congrats on graduating. I'm so happy Stefani and you will no longer be in that awful town again!!!

Once I saw you taking this shot, I knew you were going to use it and I love it! It's not the same ole picture of Sam. Great eye.

I am going to miss that old guy. This photo makes him look like he's regular sized and giant at the same time.

Awesome capture of this statue. The sky is gorgeous also. I'm going to miss coming to see y'all in Huntsville. It was a fun time while y'all were there. Congrats on graduating, and great job on the pic.

I'm glad that this is the most photographed in Texas, because I will not be seeing this statue for a while in person since you moved. Good times in Huntsville though. It's nice to know we have Sam Houston looking over it for us. Nice angle.

Well taken, exposure is good and I like the different view of the statue…seen many photos of the front but this is intriguing in itself. It will probably be many years before I see this statue again for I have no reason to travel there anymore. Good shot.
