20050403 / Landmark

Highway One, CA

From the Salinas Valley to the Watsonville Coast, Monterey County is
home to world class produce. I have been seeing this big tractor on
the side of the road for a few weeks now on Hwy 1 between Castroville
and Moss Landing. I kept thinking, "With the right sky behind it, I'll
have a good shot."

Well. Here it is.

Wonderful composition and the sky is an added bonus!

I like the low level angle of this shot, and the muddy detail. Excellent sky.

WOW! Excellent composition and cropping.
Like the sky and the clouds. Great details on the tractor.
Very well done Chris.

Interesting crop here, not very traditional, and spreads the emphasis of the photo to both the tractor and the sky

I love the composition. A very beautiful sky as background. I like the lack of sunlight in this picture actually too. Very well done.

It's funny you ask, Dawn. I resisted the tempation (and I was tempted :) ) to bump the contrast and just resized this before I posted it. I am no purist, not by any means, but I've been trying to find out what the new camera can do on it's own before doing too much PS work. It is, for the record, a little better with a slight bump in contrast. I just checked. And because you pushed me, I tried selectively coloring the foreground and then just the background. Fun stuff. :)

Good find and good patience there.. curious.. how this would be with the contrast bumped up.. just a wee bit..
