As I often did, I photographed before starting to dig for the day.
Nature abounded at this early hour, as did warm, soft sunlight. The sun soon became harsh & relentlessly hot!
Here in Don Estevan Itzab's milpa field, black beans climbed upon "X" frames and are drying in their shell before being harvested. Care in subsequent storage must be taken as the handful of beans that I saved in my hut were quickly eaten by unseen varments!
A thatched roof milpa hut can be seen up on the rise. The order of farming apparently hasn't changed much for the Maya; a pure lesson in simplicity!
