A Milpa is a field of corn that has a few other vegetables sharing the corn stalks' tall stature. Mainly, climbers that twist themselves for support as they reach for the sun...beans & squash are typical.

In this photo, at midwinter the corn has matured, the stalks have been bent to allow the corn to dry in the husk before picking.
