"The Defender of Time," a clock-automat (horloge à automates) in the Quartier de l'Horloge in Paris by Jacques Monestier. During the day, on the hour, the clock featured a combat between one of three beasts and the man (or humanoid) defender. Three times a day, all three attacked at once. But these days the clock is permanently stuck at twelve: the city is no longer supporting its operation and maintenance.
