Most turn-of-the-century sculpted reliefs on Parisian buildings are run of the mill. But this triptych from a building on the Boulevard Raspail, between Denfert-Rochereau and the Boulevard de Montparnasse, is an exception. Though there's no explanation, I see it as portraying the three kinds of love: the passion of a young couple, familial love (a consequence of the first...), and the tenderness of a couple who have grown old together.
This picture is a composite of three photos I took of the reliefs. Notice how the composition follows an arc: the postures of the young couple on the left are mirrored in the old couple on the right.
