The Taj Mahal was built by the emperor Shah Jehan in memory of his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal who died in 1631.
Our first view of the Taj Mahal was before sunrise. Initially I was disappointed that it was hazy and indistinct,
but as the sun rose, the Taj gradually "unfolded" and revealed itself, changing colors every few minutes.
Our dawn visit was a magnificent way to see it.
