Gargoyle
Fremiet

a basement in Arlington Virginia

I have this small gargoyle, a replica of one at the National Cathedral in Washington. Gargoyles fascinate me so I took a stab at bringing some llife into this still bit of stone. I took it to the utility room in the basement, set it on the top of a laundry detergent jug and gently moved a flashlight around until things clicked. The problem with flashlights in general is that they tend to over-illuminate a particular spot. I did my best to avoid that. I took several. This one caught my imagination. Fremiet

The shadows and hightlight bring out the "mystery" and evil feel of this piece gargoyle.
Great job, Fremiet. Markjay

Great shadow and texture. This reminds me of classic paintings of Saturn eating his son. Chilling.
