Masterful, Lonnit! I always admire your work and this one is no exception. Sometimes the simplest of things are the most beautiful / effective. Markjay

Of course it's the branches Tony, that are set of by the leaves in the background. Wonderful shot init:-)

With due respect to those who have responded to this image previously, it's not the frame or leaves that make this picture interesting or provocative. It's the branches. - Tony

hey lonnit... cool shot.
Rod 16-Nov-2004 11:02
Sorry Techo I must disagree mate, we're talking about PBase where we are posting here, not some other site that may have pink or other unsuitable backgrounds. The background here needs no isolation around the photo. All Lonnit has to do is to repost this shot here without any border so we can see for ourselves if it spoils the shot. White can be OK for B&W but it diminishes colour shots.
Techo 16-Nov-2004 02:26
I agree with Lonnit on this one. Try and imagine this same photo without the border ? e.g. h--p://mk31.image.pbase.com/u18/ctfchallenge/upload/36238399.9723_Tree_jopix.jpg If the gallery webpage color wasn't as greyish ;-) and was white, there would be no need for a frame or if this was published in a book with white pages. So by putting the white frame on some photo you help isolate it from the unwanted background color of some sites.

I want to take such photos sometime. One reason for not including a white frame: the size is so small you should use all the space you have :-). Or change the agency :) Tomas

wonderfull picture! it brings all the feelings about autumn in a very sensual way. well seen.
Rod 15-Nov-2004 11:08
Alright then, post it without the sucky white blown highlight of a frame & you will see this lovely shot gain another dimension, or my name aint Jim.....I mean Rod.
Guest 15-Nov-2004 03:32
Well, hit the comment button and then look at the thumb... looks sucky on white, right? Looks better with the white frame on dark. So, maybe I'm wrong and it only looks sucky on white b/c it looks sucky small but really looks good on white if it were gallery size! :) ~ Lonnit
Rod 14-Nov-2004 11:30
You say it looks sucky on white yet you put a white frame on it.............Maybe this is why Don thinks women are complex.....I have another name for it:-)
ctfchallenge14-Nov-2004 05:18
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh! Lonnit slips a frame by Rod! Way cool! This was one of those shots that seemed to me to need it. I wasn't really liking it that much on the dark background, although, now that I've got it here in the comment section and am looking at the thumb on a white background, it looks sucky on white - much, much, much better on the dark with the white frame as it appears in the gallery.

Thanks for busting my horns Pops! You're too cute! ;) I've only been using the frames when I feel they are essential for showing the shot it it's best light. If I snuck the frame right by Rod-the-Antiframe, I must have used it correctly! :) YIPPEE!!!!! ~ Lonnit
Rod 14-Nov-2004 05:01
Thanks Pops I didn't notice the blown highlight Lonnit put around this shot. Just goes to show how good this shot is:-)
Guest 13-Nov-2004 22:49
Okay, Lonnit, what was it you were saying to me about frames? LOL! ;-) A most excellent picture BTW.
ctfchallenge13-Nov-2004 04:55
WOW Rod!!!! I always enjoy your comments on people's shots. Yes, your harsh and you don't hold back and you say what you think. That's fantastic! I wish everyone here could be as free and unintimidated at making comments as you are. I keep saying if I don't know what's wrong I can't fix it. So, after welcoming all the criticism from a tough judge, I am thrilled and honored to receive this compliment from you! Thank you. It really means a lot. You've made my night!

Oh Byron, snow is so wonderful to shoot! :)

Thanks aam :)

I really like the way the leaves act as a background for the dark branches which makes this shot for me. Well done Lonnit me girl, this shot is photography.
ctfchallenge12-Nov-2004 08:48
Nice to see that someone still has some color. We've had nothing but snow for the last number of weeks. Ugh! -Byron

Love how the leaves fill the whole frame. Well done Lonnit.
