We had to get back to Milan (didn't investigate an open-jawed plane ticket, but will next time). We had a plan to take a bus north to Rijeka, then a train (actually two trains) back to Milan). The bus ride was comfortable enough, but the weather was nice and we wished we could have been doing something more than sitting. It was also a long trip. But we made one long stop, at Karlobag, and we saw the Adriatic up close.
