Jennifer's vote for worst night. The bus arrived in Rijeka around 5 pm. We caught a train into Slovenia at approximately 10 pm. It arrived in Pivka around 11:30. Our connection didn't come through until 3:58 am...

Those wooden slatted benches aren't really that uncomfortable if you are tired. Honest. The restroom made a state park latrine look like the Ritz.

We bought reservations for a sleeper and didn't end up in the right compartment, and I don't really know what we bought reservations for... The seats pull out and we did sleep, but I still don't know what a "couchette" is. Except that it costs about $25 more each. But we lurched into Milan via Venice.
