I disagree that the tree does not add anything useful. For me the tree and the ivy on the
statue's base make the statue more interesting by providing an indication of its
surroundings.

Hi Nicklas, Thank you for your comments. Yes, I have been battling for a while if I should crop the image. In the end, I decided that the trees and large area of the skies add dimensions and space which are rare commodities in Hong Kong (everything is so cramped here). In fact, I am having trouble to find a sculpture without districting backgrounds to enter the comppetition. The sky has been darken by PS (Auto Colour), yet to catch up with PP skills. Justin

The light from the sun works well in this image. The background works well although the clouds could be somewhat too similar to the white sculpture. I have one question though, would it not be possible to crop this image quite hard and make it a standing picture? The tree to the left does not add anything useful to this image? (Personally I would also darken the blue sky but that is a matter of taste)
