Richness, texture, sacks full of the staff of life, spices the color of blood in a country of sand and relentless sun. Food that keeps, just add water and cook, and fabulous meals to be had from the heaps of powdered flavoring that also has health benefits. To see such an amount of the relatively toxic saffran is astonishing, since it's so rare in places like Sweden, where you buy a quarter teaspoon for many crowns. I can almost smell the dishes prepared from such staples!
