I like your idea about the knife sticking out of the floor, however, at $1000.00 for about 100sf of flooring, I was not about to do that! LOL! ;) ~ Lonnit

i ilke this image but i would like it even more if there were some blood on the floor(?). even better would be the knife sticking out of the floor as if it were dropped with the point down. great lighting.

The lighting, heartshape and the lensbaby really make this photo. -Arn

Nice! Love the composition and the heart is, like stated, just brilliant. =) And your Baby adds "feeling" to the image. Scary image, dont't show your kids, rigth? /Jonas

I wish I was genius enough to have intended the heart shape. Although perhaps my subconscious did. ;) The top part of that shadow is pretty much untouched but I did add an oval of burn around the perimeter. I also then added some additional burning to the bottom left and then a slight bit to the middle top. I just felt it needed a bit of tweaking to enhance the shadow's shape. It didn't dawn on me that I was pushing it to the heart (pardon the unintended pun!).

The Lensbaby was responsible for for pretty much just the blurring. I thought it would be quite appropriate for this type of shot. I was very happy with the result. The first thing that hit me about the Lensbaby is that it is ideal for 'concept' shots. I could make great use of that in my stock photography. Apparently I was quite right about that because I really feel the blurring makes it less tangible, thereby drawing upon your imagination to complete the picture, which then sets it in motion to complete the story.

I'm glad you like it! ~ Lonnit

I really like the way lensbaby performed here. It makes the image come alive.....

Nice "blood red" shot and did you notice the knife is laying across the lighted area which is in the shape of a heart? I think this extra nuance really makes this image special. Shu

Geez Angela - you shouted so loud you nearly knocked me off my chair! LOL! Wow! What a response!!! Thank you... thank you very much. This seemed the least ghoulish to me - it wasn't scary to put some chocolate sauce on the knife I use to trim the fat off dinner, and lay it on my beautiful pastel teal kitchen floor! LOL! There was some good northern light coming in thru the window and by metering for the highlights in the blade I was able to get some nice shadows. It just blows my mind how you can take a perfectly bright scene and photograph it to get it to look like it's dramatic lighting. A little PS emphasis and you're in a dark room. Amazing to me. :) Thanks for your enthusiasm. :) ~ Lonnit
