October 20: Do You Believe in Miracles?

Rancho Bernardo, CA

For our non-US friends I need to explain that the Boston Red Sox last night beat the Yankees 4-2 to become the first team EVER to come from being down 0 to 3 games in a best of seven series.

Now all they have to do is win the seventh game tonight to truly have created a miracle and to play in our World Series.

Special Kudos to fellow PaDers Bruce and Karen (and others I’m sure) who’s agonizing supplications and gnashing of teeth greatly aided the Sox victory.

I see they beat the pants off the yankees tonight. Bet that smile is even wider!

LOL!! Can't pull anything over on Russ. Larry needed mouth to mouth resuscitation, Todd appears to have been right there on the mound with Curt and Keith, and I could've used a 'comfort' break starting at the bottom of the 4th. I heard Bruce yelling all the way up I-395. Robin, you were probably with each of us! What is it about the RS that is so compelling?

What I want to know is how come the tv screen looks so "unflickery?" When I photograph my TV, it always looks strange...

You know what people say, " Horse that draw (I`m not sure about the word to describe in this case Red Sox, put the series 3-3) Horse that win"
Popular wisdom ;-)

How can you be 3-0 down and then go on to win 4-2?!?!?! I'll stick to footie - it's easier to understand. Big game tonight - all or nothing for Celtic who have to win against the Ukranian team Shaktar Donesk if we want to stay in European competition past Christmas.

Ian, the best baseball players in the world come to the US to play -- I don't know if it's actually less than half but if it isn't, it's close to half the players in the league aren't even American. Many are from South/Central America and more and more are from Japan and Korea.

It all comes down to one game! I asked Karen via pmail this morning (10/20) what she was doing tonight, and she said the library is having an open house from 8:00 -10:00. You think she'll really be at the library?! NOT! LOL

Think bookies all over the globe are sweating today??

@Todd.. I have the same angst. In theory if the Sox meet the St. Louis Cardinals in the series that would put them up against the best NL team. On the other hand, Houston was also a wild card team. Two wild card teams in the series?

BUT, let us not count our chickens before they are hatched.

@ Ian... Toronto played in the World Series a couple of times. The the players are pretty diverse in terms of their origin.

Good job, both; yours here with this photo, and Red Sox last night. I was watching the game on ESPN and has been a¡¡Fantastic game!! ¡A cardiac game! And for tonigh we can expect another game for being on the edge of your sofa.
Controverse was starting whith that decision on seventh inning (If my memory doesn`t fail) when Rodriguez hit the ball with his hand in first base and after a discusion with referees he is out finally.
No doubt Baseball is a fantastic sport!!!

World series, that implies there is more than one, maybe more than 2 countries involved?

Never mind, just me having a mildly bad day.

They are, however, not the first Boston team to give me ulsers!!! What a game! I held my breath for five hours!! Now ONE MORE TIME!!!

Wow, they finaly did it, Karen Leaf will be happy to see that then. The start in the first games was somewhat close but not the real thing. Hope they will win the last games as well. For all the time they dream about that victory.

I was on pins and needles tonight just WILLING Keith Foulke with every pitch to get that last out and thank God he did. Now just one more to knock the mean ole Yanks out of the post season!

If that happens, my trouble will be who to root for in the World Series. See, the Cards and Astros are my two favorite teams but I'm rooting for the Astros to win the NLCS. But I'm going to have a hard time rooting against the Sox in the WS simply because it will be baseball history if they win! :-)
