Scooting Spawning Salmon by Dennis Dangerfield

One hour of watching salmon in stream netted one usable frame, they are very quick and shy.
Used panning to blur river and try to keep fish and splash usable.
Would work much better on a bright day and faster shutterspeed , if I had one (bright day), however ,I rather like the overall motion effect of this image as is.

If you wouldn't have told, it would be blurred a bit too much to make out what it is, but there surely enough motion in it. It is really a nice abstract, and I like this combination of colors a lot.

John, This is nearly the full image as captured, I played with it to move it closer to a thirds line and cross point, and closer to the bottom,but everything lead back to this as the best for movement and contrast . I like the way the lines of rock colors in the lower half lead back up to the salmon.

this makes a very nice abstract, dennis. that salmon sure seems in a hurry to get upriver and spawn. :) Makes me feel a bit guilty about having had one of its brethren for supper

G'day Dennis. I guess salmon are a bit like bees, except more elusive! You may not have any choice, but I'd be inclined to frame this one with the fish coming into the frame from closer to the lower left corner. It's a pity the salmon wouldn't cooperate for you by jumping out of the water just as you pressed the shutter release button. ;o) Thre's certainly a sense of movement in your shot here, so much so that it was useful for you to tell us what's going on in the scene.
