I love this picture. If I might ask, what camera body are using on this?

Definitely better Jeff, it's lost its milky look, and is certainly better than my quick and dirty job, but I'm glad I helped push yuo in the right direction! Phil

Thanks Olaf! I did as you suggested and I think it's better. I'm still not very good at white balance and adjusting skin tones. As to what I did - I cleaned up the dark spots under her eyes, cloned out the stray hairs across her face, cleaned up some blemishes and applied some targeted gausian blur. It was lots of work but I think it was worthwhile. -- Jeff

Jeff, I'm not sure what you've done, but it looks good! The white balance still seems a bit too cool though - maybe your monitor is off? Using levels, setting the midpoint of the red channel to 1.10 and the midpoint of the blue channel to 0.90 really helps in warming up the white balance and making it a more pleasing portrait. --Olaf

Thanks for your help. I've reworked the image completely. What do you think? -- Jeff

Warm up the color a bit to make her look more healthy and you've got a beautiful portrait. I love photos where people look genuinely happy.

Thanks Phil. That's nice work. I'll go back to the drawing board and update the image this weekend.

I took the liberty of running this through my normal PS settings, albeit quickly... here's my attempt at it:

Still looks like it could be a little brighter, more "punchy" - perhaps a little coarse USM to lose the milky look? Phil

Thanks for the advice. I've reduced the file size and bumped up the brightness a little.

A very nice subject and smile...(*)perhaps bump the brightness up a bit? -Ed Hahn
