By Olaf's definition:

"A graphic photograph, what is that? Often it translates into simplified, abstract or
semi-abstract compositions - sometimes with high contrast and/or bold colors.
Likewise, repeating elements are often found in photographs categorized as graphic."

Does this fit?
It has strong contrasts and bold colors
and also repeating elements.

I shot it for my PAD (Photo A Day) today
in memory of those who were lost three years ago.

Please no political debates -- that's not
what I had intended upon posting this.

Nice. Graphic at many levels. Both taken as an abstract object and taken as the flag. I am not sure whether the somber mood is due to the context or derived from the image per se, but very effective.

Well, a flag is definitely a graphic symbol and symbols are made to communicate meaning, aren't they? Here, I'm referring to Byron's caption: "Graphic... from Grafia... to inscribe with lines such as to communicate meaning." I am glad you didn't just take a picture of the whole flag though - you've cropped it down to the essentials, included just enough for us to understand what it is. Also like that the material is not just lying flat. I don't want to police and impose my interpretation of what makes a photo graphic here - the idea is to find out what different meanings people put in "graphic" when talking about photos! --Olaf

I have to admit, I've probably seen my fill of flag pics, but this is a little different. I like that you can see the textures so clearly. Phil
