And I guess I can continue it here, since that thread is full. MrStuckless commented specifically about the mirror effect of my version (follow the thread in Olaf's post to see it). I would like to point out that it is not an exact mirror. I did mirror the picture in a separate layer, but the blending mode I used (I don't remember what I used) gave some precedence of one layer over the other, so the two halves are somewhat asymmetrical. -- Victor

The discussion on this photograph continued in the challenge thread. So, for the record, here - and in the following replies - there is more discussion:http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019&message=10239646 --Olaf

Ann,
Lovely exposure. I like Byron's crop too but this is beautiful. Roberta

Beautiful and simple shot, can't think of any improvement.

Cool discussion. I like Brion's version better than mine... Wasn't sure about how it fit the topic. I tried taking one like yours Olaf but with the curve of the leaf and small depth of field (and a breeze) just couldn't do it. Ann

Would this version be considered more graphic? -Byron

Ann's original is much better.

Ann, I can definitely see why you think this is a graphic photo! For the sake of promoting a discussion, I wonder if cropping the image much tighter makes it more graphic? For example, something like this:

What do you think and what do other people think? And even if the conclusion is that it is more graphic - the next question is does that make it a better photograph? I'm far from sure this is the best crop and I have up-rezzed the crop, so the image quality is poor, but I'm posting this just for arguments sake. Hope this is OK with you Ann - if the discussion runs amok, I'm thinking we should take it to the thread at dpreview. --Olaf
