The maple limb in the center was my focus target; the focus distance was 200 feet on the Quantaray's focusing scale. One can see a large piece of wind-blown plant matter near the focus area, as well as several other much smaller bits of airborne particulate matter. At this time of the year, this area has very, very bad air quality unless there have been high winds or a rain shower. The bright red out of focus object in the lower right is one of our climbing roses, and it's hanging about 13 feet off the ground. I added it as a fgoreground element, just for that feeling of looking at three distinct planes-a very near out of focus plane,an intermediate plane (thst which is in sharpest focus) and then a third, out of focus background plane. The addition of the foreground plane (in this case a lovely, lovely red rose color) is what most people omit when they compose long-tele shots. I myself wish there had been yet another intervening plane available, but three was tops. When evaluating a telephoto lens I *always* want to see how a particular lens renders out of focus foreground elements.
