I am a pyromaniac today. Burnt through multiple sections of a 10 feet 14 gauge wire coating, rubber and all to make this shot. For the curious ones, the top wire is pulled to the back of the main 14 gauge wire and connected to a power transformer to create the spark. Some oil is rubbed on the rubber since the rubber won't burn as easily. Left it burning for a bit to let the rubber melt (see the melting drip?) before this shot is taken. And for you kids out there, DO NOT try this at home! My smoke alarm went off twice. LOL. ;)

What impressed me most was the post processing :) then i read the caption..... for you to have the kinda of control, and patience required to capture this is beyond words..... its not very often you see a shot like this that was not edited to look like this....outstanding work.... Impressive

Very cool!
One question - how did it smell? :)

For those interested, here's the "technology" behind the spark. http://www.emanator.demon.co.uk/bigclive/stunner.htm

Thanks for the comment, Olaf. I was using a 135mm F2 on a 1.6x crop body. Had to shoot from quite a distance. The crop on the flame was unfortunate but not much I can do about as I was near the end of the wired shutter and I had to do some painting to remove some unsightly shadows.

Well, one thing I noticed after my first comment, was that the flame was cut off a bit on the top - not a big deal, but maybe room for a slight improvement? --Olaf

Unbelievable. Meticulously done and fits well in the title of this challenge. The elements and the diagonal lines really add a lot of tension to the image which makes it wonderful - Grace
