slump breaker

Well, for today at least, the curse has been lifted. I finally took
some photos I am happy with.

I was supposed to photograph a dog club picnic this afternoon in
the rain and I did, but very few folks showed up.
The picnic took place in a large state park. Picnicking on the fields on either side of the
dog club were folks from a Church of God.
It seemed they had no problem with their attendance as I think there were probably a few hundred folks. This was a great looking group and
they were ever so active. With my telephoto I was able to get good detail even
though I was at quite a distance from them.

I liked this shot here because of its muzziness. I really don't know what that
is from but I liked it. It was raining (pouring) on and off and humid and so the air was
interacting with the lens to create all sorts of interesting effects.

In all, I shot 570 photos today. I started out the day on a walk in my usual
woods with the dogs. I am happy report that I got to pretend that I was the infamous knight_errant that we all know and love. Have a look:

then it was off to the picnic at which I got these two:

and finally, a couple more from the Church of God:

If you managed to have the energy to look at all six alternates, I would be curious to hear which of
these seven shots you prefer.

cheers... liza

This is great . I think the DOF is perfect, and the deep muted (lovely) tones of the background provide a perfect backdrop. Sharp, sharp, sharp.

really like the way the shallow DOF and white t shirts make the kids stand out from the
background. also particularly liked your "puppy" photo.

I smiled and started to shout jump rope chants when I saw this one...for me,
this one has a great feel to it. (The other are great as well but for some reason, I like this one.)

Oh, yeah. Thanks, too. :)

Wow, what a rich, productive day! The youngest goalie was perfect, but my favorite is the dew drop number 2 because of it's unusual, almost magical, formation. So glad to see and hear that you had such a terrific photgraphic day. 570 shots, wow! Awesome!!

I saw them all and they are all outstanding, when you break a slump you do it big. I refuse to vote. Any of them could have been your PaD. Isn't it great to see children and young people out of doors playing and having fun!

Nice composition. The rope overhead makes a nice frame for the jumper.

Sense of motion is so outstanding. This one really makes me smile, but I wouldn't want to have to choose 1 over the others. Good job!
