watching charley

in my son's apartment in Marinette, WI

...my newly renovated, just moved into,
condo is in the path of this category four
hurricane and even though I don't want to be
there dealing with the storm, I don't relish
doing all the work of cleaning up after it..
oh, well....I chose to live there; as one woman
on the weather channel said today, "it's the price
of living in paradise; if you live by the water,
occasionally you're going to live in it..."

Update: I spoke to my neighbor in Florida and there
was no major flooding and only a few trees down; the
hurricane crossed Sanibel and Captiva Islands and that
kept the swell down below the predicted 20 feet over sea level.
My sister in law in Cape Coral reports only some loose soffit
and a high water over their dock; amazing since the Cape Coral
Hospital lost part of the roof....I'm putting on storm shutters
as soon as I get back...thanks for all your concern; and thoughts
to the people of Port Charlotte, where there was major damage...

I remember Isabel last year . . we had several trees down, lotsa clean up afterwards, but no house damage . .I'm glad to hear your new place made it thru =]

That is, good to hear your place escaped damage.

Good. I was wondering how your condo would make out as I looked at a map yesterday to see where the storm hit land. (I rarely watch TV so I had to use the road atlas...)

Rather you than me. I hope that you escape lightly.

Hope your condo weathers the storm. Keep us posted!

Oh I hope your place is ok.

I'll bet the hardest part is knowing there is nothing you can do. Prayers headed your way.

That is scary! To my girlfriend this picture is the equivilant of a picture of JAWS to me! She is frightened of ALL storms...let a lone THAT! Hope all is well there!

I hope your home escapes unscathed! Get away from the Weather Channel!

Hope for the best and stay safe in Wisconsin! In the end it's only 'stuff', after all. Not a great platitude, but it could be worse (shoot! there's another one...). Sorry. Really sorry. There are parts of Wisconsin that are paradise too...

Hope it's ok when you get back!
