..here's my portrait, though not a self portrait;
my son and I visited New Orleans in 2002 and I posed
in front of the tomb (supposedly) of voodoo practitioner
Marie Laveaux...the X's are put on the tomb by voodoo savvy
visitors who want to pay homage to the dead priestess..

The story behind the X's is thus: One draws three X's on her tomb and then turns widdershins three times. This will either give you good luck or ward off evil spirits. I believe for a year.. Mike

That's so interesting, jypsee! New Orleans is a place I'm just "dying" to visit. Talk about a place to have fun with a camera!
