After the last photo in the "Big Earth Works" Gallery was taken, Peter Gerlach drilled all the footing holes with an auger on his excavator. Then the young blokes (special mention for Duncan Haigh who spent a week on the jack hammer) opened all the holes out to the required 600 mm square. We tried a new technique for filling the holes with concrete. We had the concrete mixed dry with a front end loader at the sand and gravel merchant's yard, and trailored it to the site and then barrowed it to the hole. The water was mixed in in the hole. This reduced the weight of the barrow loads considerably.
This photo shows the house site after all footing holes had been filled with concrete.
