After months of not knowing when it would come, then knowing that it was close but still not knowing exactly when, then after having the date moved around several times, Kris' overseas deployment has finally begun. The last time I spoke with him was while his airplane was on the ground in Bangor, Maine. Lots of guys stacked, packed, and racked into a DC-10, waiting for the plane to be re-provisioned for the flight to Frankfurt, Germany. He told me that he would try to call us from Germany, but there was no call last night. By this time, he is more than likely on the ground in Kuwait City. Kris' time in Kuwait will probably be about one month, before he is moved into Iraq.

It has been a tough time for all of us, waiting and not knowing, fearing the danger. Kris was in good spirits when we last talked, but that has not always been the case. He deeply misses friends and family, and is as scared of the dangerous unknown as we can imagine.
