"Typical day in Arcadia," or perhaps a better title is, "Fish out of Water." The peacocks are a common sight there - protected creatures who now roam the surrounding neighborhoods of the Los Angeles County Arboretum. I suppose at one time they were a rarity - today they can be a nuisance. They screech, they eat the flowers in the garden, and they're slow moving (unless you want a picture of them in which case they run like the wind).
And yet...they can provide sweet sights such as a mother peacock strolling down the suburban street with her little chicks following her. Then there is the young male attempting to get the attention of a female, strutting and preening and shaking his body...without the grand feathers yet. My sister and I always chuckle at that. It's so...human.
Interesting.
