21st May

Aaaarrrrrrrgh!

I discovered these spiders the other weekend while working on our garden. We opened up a gas valve cover in the garden and there they were. Now I suffer from Arachnophobia, so you can imagine how hard it was for me to open that cover again to shoot this shot. I have never ever seen spiders like these before. They were quite large! Anyone know what they are?

it's technically called a Big F***ing spider . . . that's all you really need to know.

Don't have a clue what spider it is, but you have captured all the detail, nice shot.

Creepy indeed. Not a fan of spiders Geoff, but still a good shot. :)

I think it's safe to say that is about as close an image as I'd ever want to get. Very well done, though a bit creepy for me.

Wait, this is a much smaller violin pattern than the Recluses... I'm still looking ;)

Wow Angela know a lot about spiders. Me ... I just try to avoid them. This is an excelent shot. Really sharp.

I don't know .... it looks like a Brown Recluse to me, but I'm not sure if they're in England or not. They're more the mid-southern part of the States in region. It does have the violin pattern on the body behind the head like a Brown Recluse, though. If it IS a BR, be VERY careful!! Perhaps maybe some sort of wolf spider, like the Loxosceles sp. , which also has a violin pattern on it's back. I'd be catious, nonetheless, you don't want to get bitten by any of the spiders I've mentioned.
