Duomo square is, despite the name, more working class than the other squares. The weekly market is organized in this square and lots of new immigrants hang out in this square most of the time. When I left for Canada 10 years ago, Picenza was a very conservative and homogeneous small town: today is evolving in the direction of multiculturalism, although many immigrants are still marginalized in Italian society. Part is due to the extremely high number of illigal immigrants which are forced to operate in the underworld of crimes and shady activities.
