I have a deep connection with 2 special places in Italy:
Milan, where I was born, grew up and where my parents and sister still live
Piacenza, where my family originates and where most of my relatives still live. I spent my early 20's, and I met my wife Doriana in Piacenza
I've recently (May 2004) been in Italy for a short trip and I visited both places for family reunions, and also to try to capture a glimpse of these two places photographically.
Ciao Claudio,
ti rendo la visita, vedo che abbiamo fatto gli stessi percorsi, forse al contrario.
Interessante ed originale il tuo punto di vista.
Bravo.
Umberto
Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the Piacenza gallery. My visit was too brief and with several family and friends reunions scheduled, so I only had a brief day to do my short trip (in memory lane and) along the Trebbia valley. I'm glad my love for those places reached you through my pictures.
Piacenza must look to you as if you never left, Claudio -- these images are timeless. You have chosen to define its people not through their appearance but through the structures they have built and the ground they have worked. Your landscapes are nothing short of spectacular -- you use your wideangle focal length beautifully to layer them with meaning and imply depth by relating foregrounds to middlegrounds to backgrounds.
I assume that the Milan images you speak of are yet to come. I look forward to seeing them.
