Joop's Dog Log - Thursday Apr 29

Thanks for your support when I was kicked out of that building yesterday!
So you're telling me good clean well-educated dogs are banned from public places
and buildings all over the world. Sounds like an international conspiracy!
And that's not all.
We get more and more places out in the countryside where a dog cannot walk free anymore.
We have to go on a leash at all times. Even here! Just look at this photo.
It's a deserted country road going from somewhere to nowhere.
The pastures and meadows on both sides of this road all have fences and gates.
There are no cars, no bicycles, no sheep, no chicken.
But some silly civil servant thought it was a good idea to put this sign here.
Waisted a big bag of euro's from the tax paying humans. What for?
Who has asked for this, I wonder?

Where we live, the County Attorney had a little rat terrier puppy that he would take to his office with him. His office was in the courthouse, and some of the county officials did not like the attorney or his puppy. So they passed a special ordinance specifically saying "NO DOGS IN THE COURTHOUSE." They were very nasty about the whole thing. The attorney didn`t care because he was getting ready to retire anyway, so he continued to bring his puppy to the courthouse!!

Groetjes DIEN.

I don`t understand this, either. Especially the country road thing... However, I do have friends with dogs that are not as well-behaved as you. They chase farm animals and have even bitten PEOPLE before!!! So, because of their poor dog-training skills, the rest of the people with well-behaved dogs have to suffer, I`m afraid...
I missed yesterday`s fiasco... I`ll catch up!

Hi Joop, I agree that it might have a conspiracy against dogs throughout the world... We should have a meeting some day and discuss about it, ok? Oliver & Co.

hmm ... like la vie en rouge said, some dogs turn nasty when they`ve been mistreated by humans, and they revert to a savage nature and attack other animals. it`s a problem for sheep farmers in australia, and has caused some fights between neighbours where i grew up. so - maybe the farmers complained? never mind me, i`m just being contrary. anyway, surely that sign doesn`t apply to *you, does it joop?

(or some dogs are born nasty i guess .. we had a corgi that just liked to bite people, and he was treated like a prince.)

Yes, some people just don`t want to be approached by dogs. Nobody has a sweeter or gentler hello than me, yet I`ve gotten the humans that back up and raise their arms and smile at my human and say, "Please, no." They just don`t know what they are missing! :-)

Maybe you should move to Paris, Joop! Last time I was there the dogs were allowed to go in stores with their humans.

We have signs all over our city - dogs must be on leash, and please pick up after your dog. You can get a fine if you don`t comply, but I think its just a legal thing so the city can`t be sued if someone`s dog is loose and someone gets bitten.

Dear Joop, the world is strange. My mom is very happy when a dog runs up to her and friendly sniff from any pooch makes her day. I just don`t get some humans.

Oh, Joop do they not know who you are??? You are most fantastic. I'm sorry those humans are trying to keep you down! You can roam free at the beach near my house!
Guest 29-Apr-2004 19:40
But - whoa! Your not a BLACK dog with a long tail.
Guest 29-Apr-2004 13:47
Hey, you've got above average stupid beuracrats over there! Congratulations!
That sign looks like a good place to "state your opinion."

Biggest waste of tax-payers money here re: dogs is the providing 'poop-scoop bins'. Great idea you may think - all that has happened is that the bins are overflowing - no-one empties them - and many folk just jettison the poop (in it's plastic bag) into the hedge!! Months on, it's still there. Max & Chris

PS Did you know MAX is the most popular dog name in the UK?

Human people are not always as sensible as dog people, Joop.
jypsee29-Apr-2004 05:23
Joop, I agree that it's pretty stupid to put you on a leash in the obvious countryside. I didn't get out to dog beach today like I planned...but soon. That's a place where the county I live in has set aside a beach for dogs to run free of their leashes.
By the way, you should tell your human to set the exposure on his new camera to -1 or -1.5 because you have white on your body and the Digital Rebel blows out whites way easy.
