Experimenting
March 22, 2004

What is it? An experiment with orange blossoms. I'm playing with RAW and seeing how C1-Rebel works. I think the view portion of the program needs to be adjusted - I see JPG artifacts from oversharpening. I tried white-balance effects...trying to perfect the color. They didn't come out quite as I expected - my favorite screw-up: http://www.pbase.com/image/27211782

Oh well, such is the life of the novice.

I picked these flowers to photograph because today was the first time I noticed the blossom scent as I walked past our orange tree. Like perfume, the aroma hit me...and made me giddy for summer.

I can't wait.

The orange trees are BLOOMING here in southern Florida; when I go to visit my mom who lives surrounded by the groves I just about faint from the smell. Too much of a good thing, not to mention the allergic reaction! About the photo; I like this better than one you had up late last night with more of the orange showing. Now, it's just about the flower and not the flower lost in the mass of the orange. VERY nice rework.

What a pretty flower... how cool to have an orange tree. I also like the "screw up"... sometimes it's the experimenting that results in really interesting images!
