Joop's Dog Log - Wednesday Mar 17

Worries are growing.
Especially in European countries that are involved in Iraq.
Since last week’s Al-Qaeda-bombs in Madrid, some humans in my country seem to be losing their cool.
A majority wants our government to call back the Dutch peacekeeping soldiers from Iraq.
They’re afraid we’re going to have bombs in our trains too.
Other humans say we shouldn’t give in to terrorism and should continue our involvement in Iraq.
Yesterday our prime minister, Jan Peter Balkenende, visited GWB in Washington.
Balkenende looked a little lost. GWB had clearly forgotten who this Dutch human with the funny hairdo was,
but still called him `my friend`. And he made it clear he wants the Dutch soldiers to stay in Iraq.
Of course that will be for the Dutch parliament to decide. It’s going to be a tough choice.
Whatever the outcome, we must be prepared.
So I’ve started to check my street. Make sure everything is safe. Look in all pockets and holes.
It’s a sad situation.

Hello Joop. Nice to see you here and especially nice that you're taking care of your humans. We've got to look out for the ones we love. The world is a very scary place these days.

I can assure you that Mr. Bush looks just as at sea here in the states and it is equally as troubling. What happened in Spain is horrific. What is happening in the world is at times horrific. There is something about the innocence of this pooch juxtaposed against the words about terrorism that makes a powerful statement. great image and an important sentiment expressed.

beautiful shot! Joop, you`re a wise dog - I hope our politicians get a bit smarter too and realise that pre-emptive wars have never brought peace.
In the UK we saw that Irish Republican and Loyalist terrorism wouldn`t have been decreased by the UK bombing Belfast, things have only improved because of peace negotiations and better policing... Improve the political situation and then you can root-out the real criminals and take away their support.
Ironically Americans funded Irish `freedom fighters`/terrorists on both sides through NORAID etc. for many years.

Joop, you`re always showing us your arse!! ;-) (At least it`s a nice one!)

Hi, Joop. I`m seriously worried that a situation has developed that can`t be backed out of. I don`t agree with or support Bush, but on the other hand, the terrorists are very clear about hating life & freedom. Bush just gave them an entry, if you will. Damned if we do, damned if we don`t, so it seems. The editorials here make sense to me; if other countries capitulate to keep terrorists from bombing trains or whatever, then they`re allowing this enemy to grow, gain strength. It keeps reminding me of the LOTR - good vs evil. See you after the 48 hr blackout!

Hi, Joop, I saw your Balkenende with bush yesterday and you`re right he did look a bit lost. I feared bush was using his visit here for political gain...trying to convince the Europeans to stay in Iraq. The initial unilateral attack on Iraq by bush was such a mistake...and now bush wants everyone to support his occupation in that country. I have a hard time thinking about this...Iraq was, I think, controllable without this war and now it has become a playground for the terrorists. What do the Europeans do...how do they respond to this man who treated them like irrelevant nobodys and now wants their support. The world is too confusing and complex for us humans, dear Joop, and your human is lucky he has a dog like you who seems to understand the horrid condition things in the world are in.
See you in a few days...I am going to clean my house in the time I have on my hands.
