March 16, 2004

Name that tune. No, wait, name the instrument this belongs with. (Jeanne, you can't play.)

I played sousaphone and contrabass in H.S. marching band and drum and bugle corps, respectively. It's hard to believe this is 23 years old. It got about three years of use and has sat in the case ever since. Some of the scratches come from the time I stood the contrabass on it's bell and it feel over in the wind.

Nikon Coolpix 3100

I like the tainted look - showing it's age!

I like this :)

Great shot, Mark. I wish I could do close-ups this well.

Jill, tuba or trumpet? Trumpet? Huge difference. :) It's a tuba, sousaphone or contrabass mouthpiece.

Sorry - I just saw "the other picture", I guess I disqualify then :-(
Fine picture BTW

Nice shot---tuba mouthpiece.
Jill17-Mar-2004 12:58
Either a tuba or trumpet?
Guest 17-Mar-2004 12:04
Nice shot!

This is ON the coffee table, Rob. I cleared it. It's now a mini-studio.
Guest 17-Mar-2004 06:13
So I take it we'll be seeing another coffe table shot tomorrow?

Jeanne, my shoes? Why they're on the couch of course! But I seemed so late to the game and had no new ideas. I left my comments of support and sympathy on Linda's pages. Besides, in order to put my feet on the couch I'd have to take everything else off of it--books, photos, frames, invoices, blanket, telescope, heating pad, silver and white reflector....

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM - Mark isn't playing fair! I am dyin' to know what is it huh, huh, huh???? :)

Oh, and the lighting...thank you for the compliments...a 27 watt energy saving flourescent bulb with no lamp shade, equivalent lumens to a standard 100w bulb. I think it matches the flourescent setting on the camera really well. I'm ticked about that shadow in the lower left--my hand and the camera! I couldn't PS it out. I guess I could have cloned it out.
brother_mark17-Mar-2004 04:31
Okay, someone got it right but I'll let others keep guessing for a while.
Guest 17-Mar-2004 04:31
Tuba is my vote. Interesting shadow.
Guest 17-Mar-2004 04:23
I'm going with either a trombone or a baritone mouthpiece... but then again all my friends had Vincent Bach trumpets in High School...! NIce pic btw
Guest 17-Mar-2004 04:18
Is this a trumpet mouthpiece? Or perhaps French Horn? I have an old one my grandfather made for his trumpet.. I wonder where that thing is. LOVE this one! Great shape and nice against the white!
Guest 17-Mar-2004 04:02
Darn... Jeanne beat me to it... I was coming back to make a comment about how nice your white background looks! I'm still trying to implement the advice you left me and get a better white background.
Guest 17-Mar-2004 04:01
Oh, the shadow and the white look AWESOME!! Rock on with your bad self and that Coolpix!!
Guest 17-Mar-2004 04:00
I KNOW I KNOW!! Oh, I can't play...ok, then. Hey where are your shoes???
Guest 17-Mar-2004 03:58
I am going to say Tuba mouth piece? Great shot, love the rustic look!
Guest 17-Mar-2004 03:55
A trombone?
Interesting pic, Mark.
