A bird that moves as if it were crossed with a slug on the ground (although a fairly fast slug), flies incredibly noisily, yet somehow
manages to be extremely endearing. Chestnut-quilled rock pigeons are only found amongst the escarpment country of Kakadu
and Western Arnhem Land. This specimen was photographed one morning on the Bardedilidji Walk near the East Alligator River in
Kakadu National Park.
