I woke up to a light dusting of snow today. It changed the scenery a bit, tied up traffic terribly, and was gone by noon. This is one of the fountains in Columbus Plaza in front of Union Station. The metro is at Union Station, so I go by here everyday. This is 65% of the original image. The original included more of the fountain. I thought tighter was more interesting here. This is a beautiful photo. Very exotic. If you hadn't said Columbus, I could have guessed Morrocco maybe.

This is a wonderful pic, Mark - REALLY like these two neutral hues together (the fountain in the foreground and the building in the background). Everything else about the image is spot on for me - DOF, sharpness, lighting - very well done.

I experimented with a totally different crop of this image and wonder what you think of it. By way of introduction, when I first opened the thumbnail, that little dark spot on the right side of the fountain pedestal really popped out at me. As I started to think about cropping that off, I imagined an even tighter crop that would focus on all of the very best parts of the composition. I came up with this . I also straightened it a bit, so the image worked within the smaller frame. What do you think??

That's cool. Getting the hang of the focus lock is a challenge, isn't it? It doesn't always work, but you nailed it here!
