Pittsburgh, PA USA

I had the day off and as we passed through the cemetery on our way to lunch I just HAD to jump out and shoot this. This is a mausoleum located in Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh. The man who is entombed here was very into Ancient Egyptian architecture. The entire tomb is a granite facsimile of an Egyptian Tomb. A few more photos are in My PA Winter 2003 Gallery .

You have a beautiful picture of a most unusual mausoleum. I saw the place myself last week, on a lovely clear day. It's just down the hill from where some of my maternal ancestors are buried. There is SO much art in Allegheny Cemetery. Go back and take more pictures!

You saw this in a CEMETARY????!!!! Good Heavens - who's buried here, a modern day Pharoah?! What a remarkable find, Ron - and perfectly captured. That sky is so dramatically powerful - it's just perfect for this image. Amazing image!

I agree with Sue, That sky is great, you captured it on the perfect angle!

Now that's a cemetary I'd like to wander around in. Ya don't see that kind of thing in Kansas City. The sky coloring is great, and the contrast between it and the stone is striking.
