Granddad George Ullyat Brook, probably a little while before his death in 1952 of cancer of the throat. He weighed 4 stone when he died and lived on alcohol for the last few years of his life (truth or myth?)
Kim adds: Granddad, probably near the end as he doesn’t look that good, in the smallholding at Mortimers Lane.  He died 23rd March 1952 aged 81 (so born 1871) of throat cancer.  Note that he still had the quiff which he’d always been very proud of.
