13.jpgGranddad & Nana (Lily Jane Bartlett) + Alex's dog Bonnie who was taken every day to the British Legion
Kim adds: Nana and Granddad late 40s or early 50s at the back of the house in Mortimers Lane (B3037), Fair Oak, nr Eastleigh, Hants. Behind them is the smallholding at the back of the property. I went there about 10 years ago and it was not the huge old place I’d always remembered. It was a semi and the date on the wall was early 1900s. |
14.jpgLooks older than 1927
Kim adds: I think the little boy is our own Dad and the lady behind the little girl might be Grandma. In which case the other lady might be Aunty Naomi. But that’s all conjecture. If it’s Dad aged around 6 then the date is 1927. |

23.jpgGranddad George Ullyat Brook, probably a little while before his death in 1952 of cancer of the throat. He weighed 4 stone when he died and lived on alcohol for the last few years of his life (truth or myth?)
Kim adds: Granddad, probably near the end as he doesn’t look that good, in the smallholding at Mortimers Lane. He died 23rd March 1952 aged 81 (so born 1871) of throat cancer. Note that he still had the quiff which he’d always been very proud of. |
24.jpgAndrew Mitchell - R.A.F. Cosford, nr Dudley, West Midlands. Probably around 1957 outside newly commissioned Flying Officer D. L. Mitchell's first officers quarter. |
