Never seen one of these SUSTRANS Millennium mile marker statues before.

"The Fossil Tree" (Eng): Broad and flat at the top, featuring intricate abstract shapes mimicking a fossilised tree, often painted with multi-coloured details.

The English milepost, officially named "The Fossil Tree", was designed by the Brighton-based sculptor Jon Mills. It was the very first of the four designs to be commissioned for the network.

The post functions like a modern totem pole or a medieval stone cross, serving as a landmark for passing cyclists.
